Trouble Shooting FireNet Access

Signing into a Named Account

FireNet is web based. You should be accessing the tools using a web browser. We recommend using Chrome at this time and setting up a unique Chrome profile. This prevents any confusion with current agency setup/accounts. Click here for a video walking you through the initial sign on process. The process is also documented in the FireNet User Guide.

Go to: https://portal.office.com/ and sign in using your username (firstname_lastname@firenet.gov)

Upon your first login we recommend using the Microsoft Authenticator app to setup your Multi Factor Authentication. If you do not setup the authenticator app on your initial sign in, the following Support Page will walk you through setting up the MS Authenticator. The Additional security verification page will bring you directly to the page where this information can be updated.

Password Procedures

The FireNet guidelines for password length and complexity are listed below.

  • At least 12 characters in length and no more than 100 characters
  • Uppercase characters (A through Z);
  • Lowercase characters  (a through z);
  • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
  • Non-alphanumeric characters
Users will be scheduled to change their passwords on a 60 day reset frequency. The reset clock starts at either the time of a user or administrative password reset. Users will start to see a notification of upcoming requirements to set up a new password starting 4 weeks before actual expiration.
